'Calm On The Horizon' - fused glass artwork

'Calm On The Horizon' is a gorgeous fused glass framed artwork that captures the essence of the coast and will transport you to your favourite beach. The calming and vibrant seascape will evoke memories of feeling of the sun of your face whilst listening to waves lapping and the cry of seagulls. 

This seascape artwork will hang beautifully in a coastal home and can be paired with its sister piece 'Horizon flight', they will work in a lovely harmony together. 

A stunning deep inky blue glass has been fused together in contrast with a beautiful joyful turquoise and white streaky glass for this sea inspired artwork. The surface of the glass as been sprinkled with a subtle blend of inky blue, white and pink glass powder. A light dusting of iridescent glass has been added with will sparkle like the sunlight catching the water. 

After fusing together in the kiln, the soaring seagull’s design is hand screen-printed on to the glass before firing in the kiln again. The glass is then hand finished, signed, and framed, ready to hang.

Wendy’s home and glass studio is in the stunning coastal village of West Lulworth, Dorset. She adores the beaches and walks around Lulworth Cove, Oswald’s Bay, Durdle Door and Mupe Bay. 

Wendy has been working in fused glass for over 20 years since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2000 and receiving funding from The Crafts Council to set up her studio.
